Shirley Golf Club played host for this years Warwickshire Senior Amateur Championship, another warm and dry day greeted the players.
Andrew Carmen from Coventry would win the Cyril Jewsbury Shield (over 70’s) with a gross 82.
Mark Reynolds from Walmley secured the Carl Bretherton Salver (65 – 69) with a gross 81.
Steve Creed from Stratford-on-Avon would take home the Jim Dean Cup and finish runner up in the overall event with a gross 74.
Best nett score on the day belonged to Coventry Hearsall’s Mark Warner with a nett 70.
The overall winner on the day, winning the George Stubbings Salver and the Directors Cup was Kenilworth’s Warren Bladon. A score of 2 under par 70 which was fantastic scoring on a tough setup.
Warren will be Warwickshire’s Senior representative in the English Senior Champion of Champions event being held in September at Woodhall Spa.
Personal thanks to Nick Coleman and Tim Knight who refereed both the Men’s and Ladies Championships throughout the day and to Nick Hoare for acting as starter for both events.
Thank you to Aneil and Hayley from Shirley Golf Club who were fantastic in their efforts to ensure he day ran smoothly for all and to all the members of Shirley Golf Club for allowing us to use the facilities for the championship.
One final mention for the new Ladies Senior Champion also crowned today. Anne Parry won the Ladies event with a superb 81. A great round and truly worthy winner. We wish her all the very best in the Champion of Champions event at Woodhall.
