The U16/U18 Championship was played on the 27 July at a sunny and yet breezy Copt Heath Golf Club.

30 eager competitors set off at 8.00am in the morning and the first round leader was Byron Clements with a solid gross 73 (+2) in the morning pursued by last years winner Kamraan Arastu who posted a 75 (+4) in the morning. Archie Williams and Harry Wheeler were the next chasers at 77 (+6).

In the afternoon the wind picked up and low scoring was hard to come by. Byron was chased hard by Archie Williams, Kamraan Arastu and Jake Frearson but he finally got one hand on the trophy when eagling the Par 5 15th. Byron ultimately posted an afternoon 76 to post an overall total of 149 (+7). Second on countback was Archie Williams and 3rd Kamraan Arastu who both posted 152.

As an Under 16 Byron also won that event and will represent the county at the Champion of Champions event in Ludlow in September.

The Best nett on the day was an impressive 135 (-7) from local boy Ben Cresswell.

Our thanks as a County goes to Copt Heath for hosting the event and for providing the rarity this summer of seeing green grass. Thank you to all volunteers on the day from both the Club and County.
