Warwickshire Seniors Amateur 2nd July Olton GC

The Seniors Amateur was held in conjunction with the Ladies Seniors Amateur on 2nd July at a sun drenched and breezy Olton Golf Club. The course was immaculately presented with the greens fast and true. With a stiff breeze blowing as well all players attested that the course was playing tough.

The early pace was set by Karl Smith out in 36 hotly pursued by 5 others on 37. As Karl and the others faltered on the back nine Warren Bladon who had completed the front 9 in 40 came surging through the field playing the last 6 in 3 under par to post a 74 and ultimate victory by 2 shots over Mark Reynolds and Russell Barker.

Karl Smith won the 55-59 Category with a Gross 77, Warren Bladon the 60-64 category, Mark Reynolds the 65-69 category with a gross 76, and Andrew Carman the 70+ category with a gross 77.

Once again running the event jointly with the ladies proved highly successful and our thanks go to all the organisers and volunteers who make these days successful.
