Warwickshire Amateur - Hearsall Golf Club 8 July 2026

Warwickshire President, Stuart Bloxham, Winner Josh Gardner and Hearsall Club Captain

The rearranged Warwickshire Amateur took place at Hearsall Golf Club on 8 July 2026. In what couldn't have been greater contrasting circumstances with the original event at Robin Hood the players were this time challenged by temperatures running into the early 30's.

The course was immaculate and the greens were running at an impressive 12 on the stimp setting a fair but exacting challenge.

The morning pace was set by Josh Gardner, Oliver Scriven and Alex Timms with 2 under par 68's. They were closely pursued by Jake Frearson, Rob Bardsley and Tom Ibbertson on 69's.

With the afternoon temperatures not abating the main protagonists set off for round two and wouldn't ultimately be separated. Josh and Oliver had matching 68's to end the day on 4 under par,136, whilst Alex returned a level par 70 in the afternoon to finish on 138, 2 under par. Alex was joined on 138 by Luke Challis who had a best of the day 66 in the afternoon.

The title was finally settled by a two man playoff over the 1st, 2nd and 9th holes with Josh Gardner finally prevailing on the last hole where both were left with uncomfortable 5 footers.

Oliver going first lipped out whilst Josh held his nerve and calmly rolled the putt into the centre of the hole to win the title.

The Robert Harrison Trophy for the best score for an over 35 player was won by Rob Bardsley with a level par 140 and the team championship was won by Coventry Golf Club with a 3 man team total of +5.

Finally our thanks goes to Hearsall for hosting this event at short notice and to the staff for all they did on the day to make us welcome.
