U12/U14 Championship North Warwickshire Golf Club

The Championship season got off to a sizzling start (quite literally) with temperatures at North Warwickshire reaching upwards of 33 degrees. There was some wonderful golf seen out on the links which were beautifully presented. The course was firm and fast which aided scoring whilst the greens were true, fast and receptive.

Scoring was excellent and some fantastic scores were recorded by the youngsters who showed what can be achieved with no fear. The main championship had a thrilling finale with Ben Cresswell and Byron Clements tying on gross 76 which led to a sudden death play off won by Ben Cresswell on the first after Byron found trouble in the gorse on the left.

Earlier George Hoey had looked as if he might prevail in both the U12 and U14 categories but a double bogey at the par 3 14th ended his hopes of a combined win. George did however win the U12 category with a gross 77.

There were some amazing nett scores recorded with several in the low sixties and one 58. Congratulations to all for combating the heat and playing with a smile on your faces, a credit to all.

Finally, our thanks to North Warwickshire for once gain hosting the event and to the catering staff for feeding the hungry youngsters. Thanks to Dave Bell, Leigh Cleaver and Jane Hales for their assistance in ensuring that all competitors had a plentiful supply of water.

We look forward to returning in June 2027.
